On July 4, 2014 the final 4th of July baseball game in Fort Worth Texas took place. It saw the visiting Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings play against the home team Fort Worth Cats.
After the 2014 season the league, which had 4 teams that year, ceased operations due to financial concerns with some of the other markets. However, Fort Worth drew over 7000 fans that night to watch the game and the post-game fireworks which were launched near the stadium. Many of the fans stayed after the game including coming onto the field to watch the fireworks show after the game ended.
