I visited Abeno Harukas, the tallest building in Osaka, and spent time taking in the city from high above. The tower’s sleek, stepped design gives it a strong modern presence, while its glass walls and layered terraces create an open, airy feel that makes the whole structure look like a vertical city.

Abeno Harukas is a 300-meter mixed-use skyscraper completed in 2014, developed by Kintetsu Railway and designed by Cesar Pelli. Its name comes from an old Japanese word meaning “to brighten” or “to clear up,” which feels fitting for a landmark that helped revitalize the Abeno area and became one of Osaka’s defining symbols.
