Ine Fishing Village

We stopped at Ine Fishing Village, a quiet coastal gem in Kyoto Prefecture’s Tango region, and took a slow walk through its timeless waterfront streets. The village is known for its distinctive funaya, traditional boathouses built right along the edge of the sea, where the ground floor stores fishing boats and the upper floor serves as living space. Watching them line the shoreline against the backdrop of green hills and calm blue water gave the whole place a peaceful, almost storybook atmosphere.

We wandered through the village, pausing often for photo spots as every corner seemed to offer a beautiful frame: weathered wooden houses, still water, mountain slopes, and boats resting gently along the bay. The air felt fresh and quiet, and the rhythm of village life moved slowly, making it easy to linger and take in the scenery. It was a memorable stop where tradition, sea breeze, and natural beauty came together in a way that felt deeply special.
