I have already documented the acquisition and renovation of my dream home in Taichung in the last two Memories within this Blox, and after two years tireless effort, we finally completed the renovation of The Octalysis Space.

What began as a blueprint from the esteemed London-based architect PH Chen (Zaha/AA), gradually unfolded into a remarkable five-story edifice, its first two floors the canvas of this epic endeavor.

Every element of the Octalysis Space was meticulously crafted with the philosophy of "Flow." The directionality of the design was not merely an aesthetic choice; it was an experiential strategy. Each object, from the bookshelves to the furniture, the walls to the ceilings, guided the viewer through the living space, up the stairs, and into the bedroom. The effect was akin to floating downstream, where the currents of design carried one effortlessly to the next space.

Peering out from the house, one was greeted by the abundant life of Xindu Ecological Park. This verdant tableau was a constant source of inspiration and tranquility throughout the two-year renovation, providing a natural contrast to the arduous, yet gratifying, journey inside.

The process was a dance between ambition and pragmatism, between PH Chen's compelling vision and the hard reality of budgets and building codes. This intricate tango was played out particularly in the unique, curved bookshelf, with its futuristic lighting—a feature that came to embody the essence of the Octalysis Space. It served as the heart of the living room and a testament to the inspirational and forward-thinking ethos that permeated the project.

Humorous at times, arduous at others, the Octalysis renovation project was an endeavor of grit, innovation, and eventually, triumphant satisfaction.
